In order to understand your own country it is best to have lived in at least two others – Somerset Maugham
I enjoy writing about England, especially Shropshire, which I see in a new light since my time spent living abroad. My family and I lived in America for five years and then a further five years in France. I saw many wonderful things and met some very special people but I was always looking over my shoulder, trying to catch a glimpse of the place I had left behind. My book, A Head Full of Budgerigars, is a fictional journey home.
